Jankar insulted Const post of LoP; deserves suspension: NCP

Maharashtra Minister Mahadev Jankar has come under criticism from the Opposition NCP, after he made "objectionable" remarks against the party leaders during a rally at the foothills of Bhagwangad shrine in Ahmednagar district yesterday.

The NCP, in a statement here said Jankar, the Minister for Cattle and Dairy Development in Maharashtra government, "spoke ill" and used "derogatory" words for Leader of Opposition Dhananjay Munde and Ajit Pawar in the rally in which Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister and BJP leader Pankaja Munde was the main speaker.

"Mahadev Jankar has insulted a Constitutional post by calling me with derogatory names apart from a stooge of the Chief Minister. A Minister using such words for an LoP and other leaders has set a bad precedence. He immediately needs to be suspended to uphold the dignity, culture and traditions of the state," Munde told reporters here.
 

He said a delegation of the NCP will soon be meeting Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao to demand Jankar's suspension, if Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis does not respond to its demands.

NCP workers held protests against Jankar in various districts of Maharashtra.

In Mumbai, effigies of the minister was burnt and workers chanted slogans against him outside the suburban Santacruz station.

In Thane, NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad, along with other legislators like Niranjan Davkhare burnt effigies of Jankar and protested against his language.

Similar protests were held at Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Baramati, Aurangabad, Parbhani, Jalgaon, Latur, Nanded, Beed, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Osmanabad, Jalna, Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Palghar, Amravati, Buldhana, Washim, Bhandara, Gondia against Jankar, the release added.
