Keen to have more skilled Indian IT engineers working in Japan, a senior minister from that country today said the number of foreign IT professionals there will be doubled at 60,000 in the next 5 years.
Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today met Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yoichi Miyazawa and deliberated on the ways in which both the nations can increase cooperation in the field of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and Electronics.
Both the Ministers also signed a joint statement today for cooperation in ICT and Electronics, an official statement said.
"During the meeting, Miyazawa expressed his view that attracting Indian IT engineers is essential for achieving the goal and that Japan will double the number of foreign IT engineers working in the country from 30,000 to 60,000 by 2020," it added.
The Joint Statement shared views of both the countries to create win-win situation in IT and Electronic manufacturing.
The focus will be on Japanese manufacturing and Indian IT business and to develop a synergy between them, it said.
"Furthermore, in new frontier of IT such as the Internet of Things and Big Data, high skilled Indian IT engineers and entrepreneurs can boost Indian and Japanese firm's creative business activities and promote innovation," it added.
