Japanese national commits suicide in Pak

A Japanese national, working as an engineer in Pakistan, today allegedlycommitted suicide by jumping off his third floor hotel room in Punjab province due to a stressed relationship with his wife, police said.

According toCity Police Officer (CPO) Multan Ahsan Yunas,Okumura Katfumi, 35, jumped offfrom the hotel buildingin Multan's Tariq Road area, some 350 km from here.

The Japanese citizen was working on a project tobuild a National Highway stretching from tribal areas of District Dera Ghazi Khan to Balochistan.

Some 20 Japanese and Chinese citizens are also staying in the hotel.

Yunas saidforensic evidence was collected from the incident site and an investigation has been started.
 

Local police officer Rana Zaheer Babar told Express Tribune that the Japanese citizen resided with his wife at the hotel.

Hesaid Katfumijumped off from the third floor of the hotel at 3:10 am today and left a note before committing suicide.

It read: "I love my wife very much. But she does not want to live with me and wants to end our marriage. I am very sad. Due to this reason I am ending my life. I have no reason to live anymore."

Babar said the couple married two years ago and had been staying in the hotel since last two months.

He said the police would also quiz Katfumi'swife.

Police has shifted thebody to hospital for postmortem.
