Japanese-technology used to clean up polluted canal

A patented Japanese world-class technology was today introduced here for cleaning up a highly polluted canal flowing through the heart of the city.

A "demo project" to restore the Perandur Canal was launched by private firm NeST Group with the support of the Kochi Corporation.

Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain inaugurated the cleaning of the demo stretch of approximately one KM, a release said.

The trend setting water purification system utilises micro-bubble technology to restore impure water in water bodies," it said.

Vice Chairman and MD of NeST Group N Jehangir said the technology was already in use in Japan, China and several other countries.
