Actor Jason Clarke is all set to join the cast of the NASA drama "First Man", which will be directed by Damien Chazelle.

The 47-year-old actor will play Ed White, the first American to walk in space in the Neil Armstrong biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Clarke will be seen alongside Ryan Gosling, who plays the titular role in the film.

The script has been penned by Josh Singer, which is a first-person account of the Apollo 11 mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on the years 1961-1969.

The story is based on the official biography of Neil Armstrong, 'First Man: The Life of Neil A Armstrong' written by James R Hansen, which was published in 2005.

The film, which will hit the screens on October 12, 2018, also stars Kyle Chandler, with Corey Stoll in talks to star as Buzz Aldrin.
