Jat stir: Hry govt gives total compensation of Rs 55.92 cr

Haryana government has paid a total compensation of Rs 55.92 crore to those persons whose properties were damaged in the recent Jat reservation agitation in the state.

It includes both, the interim as well as final payment, an official release said here today.

The government has so far received 2,078 claims for compensation, including 1,840 from urban and 238 from rural areas, it said.

As per the claims, 1,789 properties were damaged. These included 1,500 in urban and 289 in rural areas.

An amount of Rs 23.40 crore was paid as interim assistance in 1,848 cases. This included payment of Rs 21.86 crore in 1,646 cases in urban and Rs 1.54 crore in 202 cases of rural areas.
 

A final compensation of Rs 29.66 crore was paid to 1,091 claimants in urban areas and of Rs 2.86 crore to 190 claimants in rural areas.

Insurance companies have so far made payments amounting to Rs 12,04,41,189 to those whose insured properties were damaged.

As many as 2,040 FIRs were registered during the agitation, of which 446 were related to theft, 873 property-related, 16 death-related and 705 were for blocking of roads and encumbrance in government duty, the release said.
