Scores of people of Jat community
today blocked Delhi-Hisar National Highway at Mayyar village on the outskirts of the city, protesting against the apex court's recent order scrapping grant of the status of a backward class to the Jat community.
The previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) had granted the status of a backward class to the Jat community.

Traffic on the route remained suspended for several hours.
Earlier, a meeting was held in Mayyar village which was addressed by a number of leaders of All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS).
The samiti demanded that those selected under the quota for various posts before March 17, 2015, be allowed to join.
Samiti also demanded that the Centre should restore Jat reservation in jobs which had been cancelled by the Supreme Court.
They threatened to hold protests after September 13 if the government failed to protect their interests.
Later, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunita Verma reached the spot and took a memorandum from the members of the samiti.
