Listing the goals and outcomes of the recent Paris agreement on climate change adopted by 196 nations, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar today made a presentation before the Union Cabinet.
Earlier in the day, he also made a presentation to the media highlighting India's stand at the Paris conference and also the issues in the outcome which India had been rallying hard on.
He was called to the Union Cabinet to make a presentation. The presentations were on the goals, outcome and other events at the Paris summit," a highly-placed source said.
Javadekar also made a statement in the Parliament today where he asserted that the agreement reached in Paris had "secured" India's interest.
He said that the pact meets its "broad expectations" and recognises the country's development imperatives.
"We feel vindicated that all our major requirements have been accepted and have become a part of the agreement," the Environment Minister had told Parliament.
Javadekar later told the media that India remained "proactive, positive and friendly" during the conference and concepts of climate justice and sustainable lifestyle put forward by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been included in the Paris agreement.
He also said that the launch of the International Solar Alliance by Modi and the French President Francois Hollande was well-received.
