Jawahar Bag: 5 policemen suspended for dereliction of duty

Five police personnel, who had allegedly fled when SP City Mukul Dwivedi was attacked by the supporters of Ram Vriksh during a drive to evict encroachers from Jawahar bag on June 2 here, have been suspended, a senior police official said today.

"Head constable Bhupendra Singh,constable Kaushalendra Singh, constable Ray Singh, constable Lalta Prasad and constable Pradeep Kumar have been suspended for dereliction of duty as they had fled when assassinated SP City Mukul Dwivedi was attacked by the supporters of Ram Vriksh on June 2. The injured Dwivedi died at a hospital later," SSP Babloo Kumar said.

No FIR under other sections of the IPC, against the erring police personnel would be registered, he said when asked if the police personnels would also be booked section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC since the supporters of Ram Vriksh had killed Dwivedi.
 

However, President of Mathura Bar Association Indra Kumar Vashistha said the police personnel are also guilty of criminal conspiracy.

"As instead of protecting the officer they had fled, leaving him at the mercy of the supporters of Ram Vriksh," Vashistha said.
