Jayalalithaa to set up five new ITIs at Rs 40.04 crore

Aims to make the youth employable by providing vocational education

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today announced setting up of five new government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at a cost of Rs.40.04 crore to make the youth employable by providing vocational education.

Making a suo moto statement in the state assembly, she said in tune with her government's Vision 2023 document that has set growth targets, ten new ITIs were launched last year.

"I am happy to announce five new ITIs at Manigandam (Tiruchirappalli District), Chinna Salem (Villupuram), Kadayanallur (Tirunelveli), Kattumannarkoil (Cuddalore) and Udumalaipettai (Tirupur)," she said.

Also, work on constructing own buildings for women ITIs at Cuddalore and Karur was in progress.
 

Similarly, new buildings will be constructed at the Namakkal ITI for Women at a cost of Rs.2.50 crore to house classroom, office room and library, she informed.
