Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today announced Rs.550 as State Advised Price for sugarcane for the 2015-16 season.
The Rs 550 SAP per ton fixed by Tamil Nadu for the current cane season includes Rs 100 towards freight charges, she said here in an official release.
The Centre has fixed Rs 2,300 as Fair and Remunerative Price per ton and with the SAP of Rs.550, farmers will be getting Rs.2,850 per ton for cane, she said.
"This step of my government will give joy to the cane farmers," she said.
