Jaya expresses grief over death of Balamurali Krishna

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today expressed grief over the death of veteran Carnatic music exponent M Balamurali Krishna and said it was an irreparable loss to the field of music, cinema, fans and "above all for me."

In a statement, she said Balamurali Krishna was also an expert in playing instruments like violin and mridangam.

Jayalalthaa recalled that he had in the past started a trust to take up research in music.

Hailing his record in the film field, she said the veteran had sung the famous 'oru naal podhuma' besides many others and said these were etched in the minds of people.
 

He had also been honoured with a number of government and other awards.

The Chief Minister recalled that she had felicitated him for being chosen for the Chevalier award and had dedicated a raaga in her name 'Jaya Jaya Lalithe'.

Jayalalithaa said, "Balamurali Krishna's death is an irreparable loss to the field of music, cinema, fans and above all for me," adding, he has left a void which cannot be filled by anyone.
