The demise of J Jayalalithaa has upset the Delhi Tamil Sangam's plans of getting her to inaugurate an arch at their office premises here.

"Amma assured us that she would inaugurate the arch during her next visit when she came in June to Delhi to meet the PM after winning the assembly election," said N Kannan, general secretary of DTS.

"Unfortunately, things took a wrong turn and she was admitted to the hospital," he added.

The Amma-sponsored arch, Thorana Vayil, constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, is 27-ft tall, 34-ft wide and located at the entrance of Delhi Tamil Sangam office in R K Puram here.

Besides, it also has a 6-foot-tall statue of Thamizh Thai (mother Tamil) with Saint Thiruvalluvar embossed on both sides of the statue.
