Jaya's disproportionate case adjourned to Feb 18

Special Court Judge M S Balakrishna posted the matter to that date, granting 15 days to the Special Public Prosecutor appointed Bhavani Singh, to study it.

Earlier, Singh who was recently appointed as SPP after B V Acharya resigned from the post, furnished a copy of his appointment order before the court and sought two months time to study the case.

However, the court did not accede to his request, but agreed to grant him 15 days time to study the case.

The fourth and the last accused in the case, Ilavarasi completed recording of her statement under section 313 CrPC, on Jan 9.

 

Jayalalithaa has been charged with amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 66 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income when she was Chief Minister between 1991 and 1995 and the case had been transferred to the court here by the Supreme Court during her second regime.
