Jaya sacks Minister

Jayalalithaa today sacked Milk and Dairy Development Minister B V Ramanaa from the cabinet as well as from a key party post. Ramana was earlier removed from the cabinet as Revenue Minister in 2014 and reinducted the same year and vested with the Dairy Development portfolio.

Governor K Rosaiah has "accepted" Jayalalithaa's recommendation to "drop" Ramanaa from the Council of Ministers, a Raj Bhavan statement here said.

Rural Industries Minister P Mohan will handle the Milk and Dairy Development portfolio, it added.

Meanwhile, in an AIAMDK release, party supremo Jayalalithaa said Ramanaa was being "relieved" as the party's Tiruvallur West Secretary.
 

She announced the temporary appointment of M Ganesan, Secretary of AIADMK Kancheepuram West, in place of Ramanaa till someone else was appointed.

No reason was given for the removal of Ramanaa from the cabinet as well as the party post.
