: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has sanctioned Rs 52.11 crore for several initiatives aimed at sustaining the Joint Forest Management (JFM) plan efforts, which was implemented with funding assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Tamil Nadu Afforestation Project Phase-II, which was implemented at a cost of Rs.567.42 crore with JICA funding ended in 2012-13.
To ensure sustainability of TAP activities, Jayalalithaa today accorded sanction to implement sustainability, development initiatives, including improving the Forestry Extension Centres.
These initiatives would be implemented at a cost of Rs 52.11 crore during 2013-14 and 2014-15 by using the unspent portion of fiscal assistance given by JICA coupled with State funding, an official release here said.
