Founded in 1972, by former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran, the ruling AIADMK will be entering into its 44th year on October 17. In its over four decades of existence, the party saw a split after the death of M G R in 1987 and witnessed both ups and downs in its journey over the years.
Usually, the foundation day celebrations are held in the party headquarters here and this is perhaps the first time the function is held outside Chennai.
In another party release, Jayalalithaa said that the foundation day public meetings will be held for three days from October 18 to 20 across Tamil Nadu.
