Jayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam today visited the city and blessed hundreds of his followers at Ved Bhavan, its centre here.
The Sankaracharya is in the city enroute to Jayantipur where he will inspect land earmarked for opening a Vedic centre of education.
The land was donated by a physician couple - Jayanta Kumar Dirghangi and Ms Banani Dirghangi.
According to Ved Bhavan Bhajan Samaj secretary R S Seetharaman, the Sankaracharya will go to Jayantipur tomorrow where already a Ved Pathsala (school) has started with 20 students since August last year.
The Sankaracharya will hold another prayer meeting with his devotees before flying back to Chennai on March 12.
