NDA constituent JD(U) today ruled out the possibility of a Third Front coming to power, saying any major political alliance in the country will either be led by Congress or BJP.

Maintaining that it would play a "key" role in government formation after the nexy general elections, it said "NDA-plus" will be needed to oust the Congress from power and voiced confidence that more parties would join hands with the BJP led alliance.

"We know only two political fronts in the country and those are UPA and NDA," Party General Secretary K C Tyagi said while replying to question over the possibility of a Third Front coming into power after next general elections as predicted by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

"All major political fronts in the country will either be based on Congress or BJP. There is no other major power," he added.

Asked what role JD(U) will play, the party MP from Rajya Sabha said, "We will be a key constituent and a key ally for it. We have an important role to play."

Tyagi also said that to uproot Congress from power, support of other allies will be needed by the NDA.

"Once Atal Behari Vajpayee had said that whenever NDA comes to power and if we have to uproot Congress, there will be a requirement of NDA-plus alliance and the NDA-plus will definitely happen," he said.

JD(U) also presented a resolution on country's external affairs policy and criticised the government for losing its standing in international fora.

"Never ever in the history we had such a bad standing in the international fora. The host country of the BRICS summit recently did not meet our Prime Minister. In Bangladesh something similar happened when our President was visiting it. It is like no one gives any importance to India," he said.
