JD(U) MP K C Tyagi today said he is filing a breach of privilege motion against Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for making statements in Parliament on the Kagharia train accident, which were "contradictory" to that of the railway officials.

"I am moving a breach of privilege notice against Chowdhury for speaking outside Parliament on the train accident when parliament session is on. He should have first apprised Parliament about the issue. Moreover, his statements on the accident are contradictory to that of the Railway Board officials," Tyagi told reporters outside Parliament House.

He said Chowdhury had made three different statements on the accident- one each in Murshidabad, Patna and Saharsa.

"When Parliament is in session, he cannot make a statement outside without informing the House about the accident," Tyagi said.

Meanwhile, BJP saw a "rift" in the tussle between Chowdhury, a Congress leader, and Tyagi of the JD(U). The latter has recently walked out of NDA and is said to be cosying upto Congress.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain, who also heads Parliament's Privileges Committee, said he is yet to receive the notice from Tyagi.

Asked about the train accident, Hussain said "the Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar did not visit the accident site. He has imposed Section 144 on his mind and does not meet more than four people at a time. Earlier, he had not visited Chhapra where several children died after consuming mid-day meal. He can come to Delhi to attend programmes but cannot visit the victims even in Patna.
