JD(U)'s poor showing in the Lok Sabha election in Bihar was reflected in the bypoll in the five assembly seats in the state as it managed to win only one and was trailing in four.

Its Mujahid Alam won Kochadhaman Assembly seat in Kisanganj defeating nearest Congress candidate Sadique Samdani by 10,238 votes, Election Commission sources said.

RJD is leading in Chiraia, Baisi and Sahebpur Kamal and BJP in Maharajganj seat.

JD(U) held Sahebpur Kamal and Maharajganj seats and BJP Baisi and Chiraia before the polls. The Kochadhaman seat was held by RJD but the MLA Akhtarul Iman had swtiched sides in favour of JD(U).
