JD(U) President Sharad Yadav today cautioned tribals against political parties who try to lure voters by offering money or liquor.

"A vote commands more honour than a rupee or liquor and people should ensure that they do not vote for such inducements," Yadav said, addressing a joint rally of tribals organised by the JD(U) and Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP).

GGP president Hira Singh Markam also addressed the rally.

Yadav said that it was an irony that tribals living in mineral rich places are poor, adding that tribesmen don't have a voice in the country due to which they live in poverty.

The JD(U) president said that the poor tribals have been cheated by political parties for decades and claimed that the JD(U) and GGP alliance would work for their uplift.

Earlier, thousands of tribes drawn from Mandla, Dindori and other districts of MP led by JD(U) and GGP leaders paid rich tributes to Gond tribal king Shankar Shah and his son Raghunath, who were tied to a cannon and blown up by the British near Jabalpur railway station for leading a revolt against the foreign rulers on September 18, 1857.
