JD(U) is using the social media platform to garner support for its March 17 rally in Delhi in support of its demand for special category status to Bihar.

The party has started a campaign 'Bihar ka haq' on Facebook to draw people mainly of Bihar origin from across the world for the demand, senior JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, who is close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and has designed the page, said.

The campaign has accounts on Twitter and YouTube as well.

"Today the social media has become extremely critical and we in JD(U) understand the significance of using this medium for widening our audience," he said in a statement.

Jha claimed the demand for special category status to Bihar has the support of common people and JD(U), in its proposed rally at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on March 17, would vent their feeling.

JD(U) had organised 'Adhikar rally' here on November 4 last year in support of the demand.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and also met them to press for special status for the state, which falls short on development indices in all sectors.
