Jaipur Development Authority today took the possession of an over 200-bigha land here which was allotted to a farming cooperative society in 1953 for 20 years.

The 203-bigha land in Jhotwara and Gokulpura area was allegedly encroached by the society and it was registered as the government land in revenue records, official sources said.

Joint Secretary-III Prakash Chand Sharma had in September written to the JDA secretary to take possession of the land for the development of Prithviraj Nagar scheme.

"The possession of the land was taken back. This was allotted to Kisan Samuhik Krishi Sehkari Samiti in January 1953 for 20 years for carrying out cooperative farming but now there was no farming so the possession was taken," sources said.

Further details of the society were not disclosed.
