A Jharkhand Assembly committee has picked up Das as the best legislator of the assembly and this selection was a clear exhibition of the government's approach and character towards the majority adivasi populace, JDP chief Salkhan Murmu said in a press statement.
Murmu alleged that the former Deputy Chief Minister was leader of a political party (BJP), which supported forcible acquisition of tribal land, compelling the tribals to displace and migrate and caused exodus of outsiders to wipe out adivasis from their own land.
The JDP leader accused the Jharkhand government for continuously violating 5th schedule of the constitution meant to protect the interest of tribals and human rights.
Earlier, the assembly committee selected Das for the best legislator award "as he fulfilled all the criteria set for the best legislator"
Das is four-time BJP legislator from Jamshedpur East assembly segment since 1995.
He was the deputy chief minister in 2010 when JMM supremo Sibu Soren was the Chief Minister. He was state BJP President for three years till 2010.
