Jeera extends losses on increased supply

Jeera prices fell further by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale kirana market in the national capital today on increased supplies from producing regions against muted demand.

Traders said persistent supplies from producing regions in the face of subdued demand mainly kept pressure on jeera prices.

Jeera common and best quality shed another Rs 100 each to Rs 15,600-16,100 and Rs 19,600-20,100 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 150-190, black pepper (per kg) 760-930, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,520-1,525 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,625-1,925.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 600-725, cardamom (colour robin) 580-590, cardamom bold 600-610, cardamom extra (bold) 680-690 and cloves 525-660.
