Jeera prices spurted by 0.92 per cent to Rs 20,195 per quintal in futures trade Monday as speculators created fresh positions, driven by surging demand from stockists and overseas enquiries.
In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for November was trading higher by Rs 185, or 0.92 per cent at Rs 20,195 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,593 lots.
Similarly, the contract for delivery in December was trading higher by Rs 75, or 0.36 per cent,to Rs 20,835 per quintal, in an open interest of 5,871 lots.
Traders said speculative positions built up by participants amid pick-up in demand at the domestic spot markets and export enquiries, mainly attributed the rise in jeera prices at futures trade here.
