Jeera prices fell by 1.24 per cent to Rs 15,575 per quintal in futures market today after speculators offloaded positions amid a weak trend at spot market due to sluggish demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in January fell by Rs 195, or 1.24 per cent, to Rs 15,575 per quintal with an open interest of 4,911 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in February traded lower by Rs 170, or 1.06 per cent, to Rs 15,925 per quintal in 10,233 lots.
Analysts said the fall in jeera futures was due to offloading of positions by speculators owing to subdued domestic as well as export demands in the spot markets.
