Press Trust of India New Delhi
Jeera prices fell Rs 360 to close at Rs 19,550 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming positions to book profits at prevailing levels amid lower domestic and exports demand.

Furthermore, ample stocks position following higher supplies from the producing regions, fuelled the downtrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in January fell Rs 360, or 1.81 per cent lower, to close at Rs 19,550 per quintal with an open interest of 729 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in December moved down by Rs 125, or 0.61 per cent lower, to end at Rs 20,220 per quintal in 1,467 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
