Jeera futures down 1.19% on profit-booking

Jeera prices fell 1.19 per cent to Rs 17,810 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid subdued demand at the spot market against adequate stocks.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in October fell by Rs 215, or 1.19 per cent, to Rs 17,810 per quintal, with an open interest of 16,473 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in September moved down by Rs 200, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 17,660 per quintal in 7,110 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
