Jeera prices drifted lower by 1.88 per cent to Rs 15,385 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions, driven by slackened demand in the spot market against sufficient stocks.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in December moved down by Rs 295, or 1.88 per cent, to Rs 15,385 per quintal with an open interest of 13,119 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in November contracts traded lower by Rs 280, or 1.82 per cent, to Rs 15,115 per quintal in 1,884 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders, driven by muted domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market, mainly led to decline in jeera prices at futures trade.
