Jeera prices dropped 0.99 per cent to Rs 11,530 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amidst fall in demand in spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September moved down by Rs 115, or 0.99 per cent to Rs 11,530 per quintal with an open interest of 4,209 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 105, or 0.92 per cent to Rs 11,320 per quintal in 5,430 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in jeera futures to offloading of positions by speculators on sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
