Jeera prices were down 1.21 per cent to Rs 15,465 per quintal in futures market today as speculators trimmed positions on the back of subdued demand at the spot market.

Also, adequate stocks position in the physical market fuelled the downtrend.

At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September fell by Rs 190, or 1.21 per cent to Rs 15,465 per quintal with an open interest of 9507 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in August contracts declined by Rs 185, or 1.20 per cent to Rs 15,175 per quintal in 16,389 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
