Jeera gains 2% on rising demand

Traders create fresh positions on lower arrivals from growing regions

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Jeera prices moved up by 1.99 per cent to Rs 12,030 per quintal in futures trade today amidst rising demand and tight stocks position in the physical market on restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in December rose by Rs 235, or 1.99 per cent, to Rs 12,030 per quintal with an open interest of 6,162 lots.

The November contract traded higher by Rs 200, or 1.72 per cent, to Rs 11,860 per quintal in 1,245 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures to fresh positions created by speculators on rising demand in the spot market.
