Jeera prices rose by 0.26 per cent to Rs 11,537.50 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators indulged in creating positions after pick-up in spot market demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March rose by Rs 30, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 11,537.50 per quintal with an open interest of 6,639 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April moved up by Rs 17.50, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 11,520 per quintal in 5,058 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures to pick-up in demand in the spot market but expectations of higher output restricted the gains.
