Jeera prices moved up by 1.08 per cent to end at Rs 17,780 per quintal in futures trade today as participants increased their belts backed by rising domestic as well as export demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September month gained Rs 190, or 1.08 per cent to terminate at Rs 17,780 per quintal with an open interest of 13,986 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in October contracts gathered Rs 185, or 1.04 per cent to settle at Rs 17,945 per quintal in 8,745 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders following upsurge in domestic as well as export demand in the spot markets against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up jeera prices at futures trade.
