Jeera prices rose by Rs 200, or over 1.12 per cent, to Rs 18,135 per quintal in futures market today on speculative buying triggered by rising demand in spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the April contract of jeera rose by Rs 200, or 1.12 per cent, to end at Rs 18,135 per quintal with an open interest of 10,149 lots.

The May contract of the spice increased by Rs 185, or 1.02 per cent to Rs 18,330 per quintal in 6,309 lots.

Traders said speculative positions built by participants amid pick up in domestic as well as export demand led to the rise in jeera prices at futures trade.

Moreover, restricted supplies in domestic spot markets and some export enquiries too supported the uptrend.
