Jeera prices flared up by 3.50 per cent to trade at Rs 15,176 per quintal in futures trade today on rising spot demand and restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in February month spurted by Rs 561, or 3.50 per cent to Rs 15,176 per quintal with an open interest of 360 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in March jumped up by Rs 444, or 3 per cent to Rs 15,239 per quintal in 18,165 lots.

Analysts said rise in jeera prices at futures trade was mostly supported by rising demand at spot markets against fall in supplies from growing regions.
