Jeera prices flared up by 3.80% to Rs 7,810 per quintal in futures trade today largely in tune with a firming trend at spot market on strong demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May month jumped up by Rs 570, or 3.80 per cent to Rs 15,585 per quintal with an open interest of 8,700 lots.
Also, the spice for delivery in April contracts shot up by Rs 545, or 3.71 per cent to Rs 15,250 per quintal in 12,558 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in jeera prices at futures trade as speculators enlarged position on the back of strong demand in the spot market.
