Jeera prices increased by 1.34

per cent to Rs 16,200 per quintal in futures trade today as investors enlarged their bets tracking improved export and physical demand.

Further, lower arrivals from growing regions also supported the jeera futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May was trading higher Rs 215, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 16,200 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,952 lots.

Likewise, contract for May delivery was increased by Rs 170, or 1.06 per cent, to Rs 16,065 per quintal, as the open interest of contract stood at 5,448 lots.

Traders said speculative positions built up by participants amid rising domestic as well as export demand led to the rise in jeera prices.
