Jeera prices were up by 1.03 per cent to Rs 16,230 per quintal in futures trade today as traders widened positions amid tight supplies from growing regions and rising spot demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in far-month rose Rs 165, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 16,230 per quintal with an open interest of 3,531 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in October gained Rs 135, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 15,940 per quintal in 14,316 lots.
Market analysts said the rise in jeera prices was mostly attributed to tight stocks in the spot markets against rising demand and restricted arrivals from growing regions.
