Jeera moves down on adequate supply, low demand

Jeera prices drifted by Rs 300 per quintal at the wholesale kirana market today on low demand against higher supplies from producing regions.

Traders said fall in demand against adequate stocks on higher supplies from producing belts mainly kept pressure on jeera prices.

In the national capital, jeera common, best quality remained selling pressure and dropped by Rs 300 each to Rs 16,300-16,800 and Rs 19,800-20,300 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 150-185, black pepper (per kg) 560-740, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,690-1,700 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,800-1,900.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 770-830, cardamom (colour robin) 770-790, cardamom bold 780-800, cardamom extra (bold) 910-960 and cloves 710-830.
