Jeevan keep India's flag flying in Chennai ITF Futures

Local favourite Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan pipped Tak Khunn Wang of France 7-6(2) 2-6 6-2 to set up a title clash against Victor Crivoi of Roumania in the MCC-SR Subramaniam Memorial ITF Mens Futures tennis championship here today.

In a match that lasted 155 minutes, third seeded Jeevan could not find his rhythm initially and the first set went into a tiebreak which the Indian pocketed rather easily.

But Wang found his groove early in the second setand broke Jeevan in the second and eighth games to win the set 6-2 and take the game into the decider.

Jeevan regained his composure and broke Wang in the first game of the third set after being down 15-40.
 

Jeevan's first serve percentage improved substantially as he held serve and broke Wang in the third game to take a 3-0 lead.

Maintaining the same tempo, Jeevan won the set 6-2 and the enter the finals of the tournament.

In the second semi-final, top seed Victor Crivoi of Romania defeated fourth seed Thales Turini of Brazil 6-3 6-2.

Singles semi-finals: Victor Crivoi (ROU) [1] beat Thales Turini (BRA) [4] 6-3 6-2, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND) [3] beat Tak Khunn Wang (FRA) 7-6 (2) 2-6 6-2.

Doubles finals: Arata Onozawa (JPN)/Arun-Prakash Rajagopalan (IND) [1] beat N Sriram Balaji (IND) [2]/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND) 6-4 0-6 (7).
