Jeevan lone Indian in semis of Chennai ITF Futures

Third seed Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan was the lone Indian to enter the semifinals of the MCC-SR Subramaniam Memorial ITF Mens Futures, defeating compatriot Vijay Sundar Prashanth here today.

Jeevan defeated seventh seed N Vijay Sundar Prashanth 2-6 6-1 6-2 to enter the last four round.

Top seed Victor Cirivoi of Romania outclassed India's Elwin Antony 6-3 6-1, while fourth seed Thales Turini of Brazil defeated another local contender and fifth seed Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan (IND) 6-3 5-7 6-0 in other quarterfinal encounters.

Sixrth seed Vijayant Malik also had to bite the dust as he was stunned by Tak Khunn Wang of France. The Frenchman defeated Malik 6-3 6-1 to seal his place in the semifinals.

Doubles: N Sriram Balaji (IND) [2]/Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND) beat Ting Yu Chuang (TPE)/Chih-Jen Ho (TPE) 6-3 6-3, Arata Onozawa (JPN)/Arun-Prakash Rajagopalan (IND) [1] beat Jui-Chen Hung (TPE)/Petar Tomic (SRB) 7-5 6-4.
