The Centre's "Jeevan Pramaan" scheme for pensioners which would do away with the need for them to personally submit life certificate every year has been rolled out here in the union territory.

The scheme which envisaged issuance of digital life certificate had been brought for the benefit of government pensioners, Director of Accounts and Treasuries S Punithavalli said in a release here today.

Pensioners could register themselves for the certificate in the 'Jeevan Pramaan Centres' set up in government treasuries in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.

Once they obtain the digital certificate, they would continue to get pension every month without break and need not go to the treasuries or the banks every year to furnish personally the life certificate, the release said.

Pensioners can register themselves from their homes or from the nearest common service centres to get the digital life certificates, it said.
