Golden Globe-winner Jennifer Lawrence is set to play Marita Lorenz, the German woman who who had an affair with Cuban politician Fidel Castro, in an upcoming Sony Pictures film.
Penned by Eric Warren Singer, who was co-writer on Lawrence's "American Hustle", "Marita" will be produced by Matt Tolmach with the 25-year-old actress and Scott Mednick. Andre Rouleau is also producing, said The Hollywood Reporter.
The romantic spy drama centres on Lorenz and how she met and began dating with Castro when she was 19 years old.

This is the second time Lawrence would be tackling a real-life personality on screen after playing housewife-turned-inventor Joy Mangano in David O Russell's "Joy".
The actress has won a Golden Globe for her performance in the movie and also earned a nomination for the upcoming Academy Awards.
Sony won a bidding war for the Lorenz rights against Universal, Warner Bros, Fox, Paramount and Lionsgate. The actress, who received her fourth Oscar nomination last week
Singer spent months developing the project, working with Mednick, before bringing it to Lawrence.
