Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence has admitted she felt awkward meeting Melissa Rivers on the set of her new movie, following her public feud with her mother in 2013.

Lawrence and Joan, who passed away in September last year, became embroiled in a high-profile dispute after the "Hunger Games" star blasted the comedian's "Fashion Police" series.

Lawrence, 25, and Melissa soon dealt with the issue on the set of their new movie "Joy", reported Female First.

"I wondered if it was going to be uncomfortable. I really do love Joan Rivers. She's had such an incredible life and is an unbelievable woman. I just am very opinionated, too."

The actress also disputed the notion that she and Joan would have continued to bicker had they met in person.

Lawrence, who plays the lead role of Joy Mangano in the movie, said, "I don't think (Joan and I) would have had a beef (dispute) had we met.

"So, I said that to (Melissa), and (was) complimentary of her mum, and kind of got it out of the way immediately. And then it wasn't (uncomfortable) and then she's so nice and great, so I got it out of the way and then we were great.
