American civil rights activist and Baptist minister Jesse Jackson today visited a red-light area in Kolkata and met victims of sex-trafficking.

During his hour-long stay at the red-light area, children of sex-workers performed songs like 'I love my India' and 'Break the Chain' (theme song of One Billion Rising campaign).

The children who performed before him have been rehabilitated by the NGO New Light.

"Even young girls get trafficked. They must get education opportunities," Jackson told PTI.

He also listened to tales of sex-workers and those who struggle to eke out a living due to old-age.

He is on a three-day tour to Kolkata and has paid visits to the Mother House, the headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity and Netaji Bhavan, the ancestral house of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
