An Odia television serial actor arrested in connection with the suicide of actor Ranjit Patnaik was today granted bail by a local court here.
Balasore District Sessions Judge Biranchi Narayan Mahanty granted bail to Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal alias Jessy on a personal release bond of Rs 20,000 and two sureties of like amount.
Jessy had approached the district court for bail on February 20 and the court had fixed today as the day for hearing.

Jessy and Raja had gone to a musical programme on February 6 at Khaira area in Balasore district where Jessy and another actor were invited. Raja, though not invited, had accompanied Jessy to the event.
When another actor Chandan, who was slated to perform at the event with Jessy but did not turn up, the organisers requested Raja to perform at the event.
While returning, Jessy had allegedly verbally abused Raja. The altercation between the duo reached a flash-point and Raja told the driver to stop the car. He got out of the car and climbed over the parapet of the bridge and jumped, it is alleged.
He was rushed to nearby Bhadrak district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police had registered a case and had started investigation after Raja's family lodged a complaint alleging foul play.
A six-member police team was formed to investigate the case and Jessy was arrested in the case and her polygraph test was conducted in Bhubaneswar. She was in jail at Soro since then.
