Private carrier Jet Airways today said it will operate 16 additional daily flights in the remaining period of the winter schedule, which ends on March 28.

Most of the additional capacity is being deployed on the trunk routes like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru, it said.

Jet Airways announcement comes a week after the recently launched full-service carrier Vistara said it would be scaling up operations to 166 flights per week, besides adding Goa and Hyderabad in its network by March.

"Jet Airways will operate 16 additional daily Boeing 737 flights effective February 1 to March 28 to meet increased demand on key domestic sectors," the Mumbai-headquartered airline said in a release.

The airline will operate additional early morning flights from Bengaluru and Chennai to Mumbai and late evening services from Mumbai to the two key southern cities, it said.

Besides, additional daily flights will also be operated from Bengaluru and Chennai to Delhi, the release said, adding the airline will enhance its frequencies from Mumbai to Kolkata, Chandigarh, Kochi and Raipur with additional daily flights.

Jet Airways currently operates nine daily flights from Mumbai to Bengaluru, seven daily flights from Mumbai to Chennai and vice versa, five flights to Kolkata, one flight to Chandigarh, two flights to Kochi and two daily flights to Raipur.

In addition, it also operates three flights from Delhi to Chennai and eight flights from Delhi to Bengaluru.
